ISLAMABAD: In efforts to strengthen the security mechanism in the twin cities, on Wednesday, the police officials from both the cities have agreed to use Google Maps to define the patrolling points and as well as the beats and pickets in the cities, which would be monitored by the officials to ensure effective security.

The assistant inspector general (AIG) operations, Dr Sultan Azam Temuri, said that a joint security plan was crucial for twin cities and asked the police officials to enhance the coordination and ensure a prompt exchange of information.

He also said that joint pickets, at entrances and exits, have been established and the search operation in the slum areas will be continued.

The officers discussed the function of a ‘joint communication control room’ and decided to install security cameras on the toll plazas in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The meeting also decided that the crackdown, against the robbers, car lifters and proclaimed offenders, will continue in both cities.

It was also finalised that the police forces of both the cities would be considered one unit, and joint mock exercises shall be conducted by the security stake holders.

A decision, to chalk out a joint security plan for both the cities, was also taken at the meeting.— Staff Reporter
